The Medical Treatment Risk Fund, which was set up to enable patients to receive reimbursement for damage caused during medical treatment, has not fulfilled its main task in fact during the first five years of existence, as it does not operate in the interests of patients. There has been no opportunity provided for receiving reimbursement for doctors’ mistakes quickly and clearly. The resources that one can receive from the Fund are critical to the health and even the life of many patients because they allow immediate action to be taken to mitigate and prevent the consequences of the damage caused. In some instances, pending for a decision regarding the recognition of the damage and reimbursement very long, the heirs of patients already have received that money.
