EUROSAI Environmental Auditing

The aim of the working group is to encourage and support professional cooperation, as well as facilitate knowledge and experience exchange on environmental auditing among the European supreme audit institutions. At the same time, the working group carries out cooperative audits in areas where, for example, there is a risk that policies may have a negative impact on achievement of environmental goals.

In 2018, the State Audit Office took part in a coordinated audit on energy efficiency of public sector buildings. The supreme audit institutions of eight countries participated in the audit, thus different perspectives were considered. The working group also develops and updates methods of environmental auditing.

The working group was established in 1999 and currently brings together 43 European supreme audit institutions.
